Samples & Trial-sizes
Be on the Lookout for Samples & Trial-Sizes.
The HLCW is starting a new project for The Salvation Army.
I have learned of their needs at the shelter, and we are
hopeful that with the congregations’ cooperation, we will
be able to supply some of them! If anyone has any samples
sizes of soap, shampoo, hair conditioner, lotion or deodorant,
(the types we get at hotels/motels) would you
please deposit them in the basket in Neemann Hall. They
will be used for Care/Health kits for the homeless. We can
also use the types that can be purchased at stores. We will
also need toothbrushes and toothpaste.
THANK YOU FOR WHATEVER
YOU ARE ABLE TO DONATE!

Stewardship
Outreach
Thanks to all of Hope congregation, we have
just finished our year-long outreach projects. Now I
am very enthusiastic to begin 2012. I am excited to
strive to accomplish the same or maybe, with God’s
urging us, to do more this year than 2011.
January is the time to
start on those little sweaters
(up to size 2) for the layettes.
Knitted or crocheted are fine.
We would also like to
encourage anyone to donate a
bar of soap (in its’ original
wrapper), or an individually
wrapped toothbrush, toothpaste,
gently-used hand towels
or bath size towels (app.
52” x 27”). They can be placed in the box in Neemann
Hall by the “Outreach table”. We can use
those for kits. A brand new bar
of soap means dignity and
cleanliness to our fellow people
in other countries who do not
have the opportunity or means
to just go to the store and pick up a bar of soap or
toothbrush.
Thank you for whatever you can do!
Your fellow sister in Christ,
Carol Lauher

Outreach Focus
Dear Members of Hope,
Here we are in another year for “Outreach” to all
the people of the world who need our HELP! Our projects
for March and April will be the Hospice (HIV/AIDS)
Kits, and the Newborn Kits (formerly known as Midwife
Kits) which go to Global Health Ministries.
Please prayerfully consider donating to this cause. The HIV/AIDS epidemic has added enormous challenges to healthcare worldwide. Missionaries, their healthcare worker
colleagues, and patients’ families in third world countries
must provide daily care to AIDS patients who suffer from
the symptoms of a devastating, end
stage disease. There is pain, nausea, diarrhea,
skin eruptions, to name a few. It
is a disease we cannot ignore and it is
not going away! But what can we do to
help? An AIDS/Hospice Kit can provide cleanliness, comfort
and Hope.
Our prayers and generosity can reach far into the
lives of those who have been affected.
The AIDS/Hospice Kit contains the following:
New or gently used items:
1 regular size bath towel
1 wash cloth
New items:
1 Bath size bar of hand soap (wrapped - any kind)
1 toothbrush (individually wrapped)
1 tube toothpaste (medium or large
or 2 small sample size - any kind)
1 “pick” comb (wide teeth)
1 nail clipper with file
6 band-aids (rubber-banded together)
1 jar or tube of petroleum jelly
1 pair heavy-duty household gloves
(kitchen type - size medium)
1 small devotional booklet such as “Portals of Prayer” or
“Christ in our Home”
(does not have to be a current issue)
$5 donation for purchase of pain meds and vitamins in
the country of destination.
We will have a workday to put all the kits
together. The contents of each kit is
wrapped in the bath towel and then
placed in a 2 gallon Ziploc bag and marked
“AIDS/Hospice Kit”. Maybe a family, or a Sunday
School Class or individuals would care to make this
an “Outreach Project”?
The Newborn Kit consists of the following:
1 regular size bath towel
(thinner type, no longer than 48”)
1 thin wash cloth
1 bath-size bar Ivory soap
1 newborn stocking cap (keep it very small)
1 small cotton-blend or flannel shirt to the waist only as
the babies do not wear diapers
1 receiving blanket
$5.00 per kit for Global Health Shipping
Thank you for whatever you are able to donate. You
can put any items in the “Trunk” in Neemann Hall.
God’s Peace to all,
Carol Lauher, Growth and Action Coordinator

Prayer Chain
When times are dark and dreary, and no one seems to care, our Savior is our refuge, if we go to Him in prayer. In times of stress or trouble, give the Prayer Chain your message. Don't forget to call when prayers are answered. God loves to hear a prayer of praise and thanksgiving.
If you have a prayer request or would like to put someone on the Prayer Chain, contact Carol Lauher at 839-3373. If you are interested in being a part of this vital ministry, please let Carol know.
Gift Nook
The GIFT NOOK is stocked with greeting cards and napkins for most occasions. Individual cards are 50 cents each and the boxed cards range in price from $5 to $7.50.
Stamps for Bethel
Cancelled stamps are sent to the Bethel Institution in Germany. This hospital is dong a wonderful job of caring for mentally and physically handicapped people of all ages. As part of the therapy, residents remove the stamps and make them ready for resale to collectors. Remove stamps carefully from the envelopes. Just cut around them leaving a 1/4 inch margin all around so that the perforation remains intact. DO NOT try to skin them from the envelope. You may place your stamps in the box provided outside the church office.
Penny Jar
Put your pennies in the container in Neemann Hall. Coins will be used for shipping Lutheran World Relief kits where they are needed.
Mitten Tree
These mittens are given to children and adults in Dane County. All sizes can be made or purchased and/or used but in good condition. Mitten tree is placed in Neemann Hall in November and December.

Project Linus
Project Linus is a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization with a two-fold mission:
First is is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets, afghans and quilts lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers."
Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.
- The infant/child-size blanket can be made from fabric or yarn.
- The blankets can be sewn (quilted), knitted or crocheted.
Since the summer of 2001 over 100 baby quilts have been made and given to this very special project!
