Purpose Statement of the Women of ELCA

As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

HLCW Programs and Projects

Prayer Chain-Our Savior is our refuge, when we go to Him in prayer.  In times of stress, trouble or needs, give the prayer chain your message.  All prayer request are STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL.  We pray diligently for the person or situation. 

 

Child Fund Sponsorship-Sponsorship of Jissel from Honduras.  Along with the monthly sponsorship, we also give her a birthday and Christmas gift. 

Stewardship Projects for Lutheran World Relief and Global Health Ministries-Throughout the year we collect items and assemble for School Kits, Baby Care Kits, Personal Care Kits, Fabric Kits, Hospice/Aids Kits, Newborn Kits.

Mitten Tree-Mittens, Hats and Scarves are collected and  given to children and adults in Dane County.  The Mitten Tree is placed in Neemann Hall after Thanksgiving

Pine Ridge Indian Reservation-The Pine Ridge Indian Reservation is South Dakota is the poorest areas in the US.   We send School kits and Layettes to the medical clinic on the reservation.  Gifts are sent to kids for Christmas.  Household Items and Winter Clothing are sent as needed. 

Bazaar, Cookie Walk and Luncheon-Held each year the first Saturday in November as our annual fundraiser.  We welcome everyone in the church to help out, participate and contribute in this event.  There is a need for craft items, baked goods, candy and cookies.

Service League-Serves the shut-ins of Hope Lutheran Church and provides Christmas gifts for the resident of Skaalen.

Hope’s Circles-All women are invited to the monthly Bible studies.  We currently have three circles.  Sarah Circle meets every second Wednesday morning at 8:30am.   Mary Circle meets every second Wednesday at 1:00pm, and Hannah Circle meets every third Sunday of the month at 9:15am.
